ORAL SURGEON Dr. Patel
Dr. Neel Patel is an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon who specializes in dental extractions, corrective jaw surgery, maxillofacial pathology, and dental implant rehabilitation. He was raised in Richmond, VA and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
Inspired by his older sister who was studying dentistry, Dr. Patel pursued a dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania and was awarded with a Dean’s Scholarship. While finishing near the top of his dental class, he received a Master of Science in Bioengineering. This paved the way for him to begin his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Parkland program, one of the most highly esteemed in the nation. After obtaining his medical degree, he completed a 1-year internship in General Surgery and completed the 6-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He received extensive training in dental implants, corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, minimally invasive TMJ surgery, nerve repair, cosmetic surgery, and management of facial trauma.
Dr. Patel focuses on comprehensive patient care, but believes one of the most important characteristics of a healthcare provider is excellent communication; clear explanation of treatment options helps allow for patients to make the decision that is best for them.
Dr. Patel resides in Bethesda, MD with his wife and two children. He enjoys hiking, scuba diving, yoga, and traveling.
